Apps & Services: Mini Friday
by Evan Cordes
Check out Mini Friday, a real-time virtual world that has evolved steadily over the past year to include over 100,000 characters.
After you customize your avatar, you enter a world laid out on a 3D grid where you can move around and interact with different people.
The software is currently available on Symbian Series 60 phones as a 365k download. The interface is simple and powerful.
If the success of creator Sulake’s Habbo Hotel (with 80 million avatars created and 6 million visitors logging in each month) is any indication, Mini Friday is a big step toward evolving virtual worlds in the mobile space.
Where do you see these virtual worlds going? Is Symbian necessary to build them? Has anyone seen anything similar yet in Flash Lite?
